Dreams Have A Funny Way of Shining A Light

Updated: Jan 4, 2019

I can't handle the night anymore

Every dream is filled with your face and

all the moments left in the dark

I can still hear you saying

Words that have obviously left a mark

They've left me lying here wanting more

From all the times we had before

I slowly threw everything away

And I'm sorry for it all

Because of those choices you make when you're falling apart

Screaming at the mirror like it's going to change it

Dwelling on smiles and hands held tight

Time will pass them by but dreams have a way of shining their light

And you try to hate it

They always have a way of coming around

Sharing pictures you thought you’d finally forgot

Waking from a time that felt more real than where you are

And today I just can’t shake it

I can’t handle the day anymore

I’m haunted by a familiar ghost and

Everywhere I go is a place I see us

I can’t seem to stop this daydreaming

Time has obviously left its mark

I’m tired of always wanting to find more

Then the times I’ve had before

Still I toss aside every glance I get

Too afraid of that feeling

Because of those choices you make when you're falling apart

Screaming at the mirror like it's going to change it

Dwelling on smiles and hands held tight

Time will pass them by but dreams have a way of shining their light

And you try to hate it

They always have a way of coming around

Sharing pictures you thought you’d finally forgot

Waking from a time that felt more real than where you are

And today I just can’t shake it

Memories, don’t let them control you, don’t let them keep you down

Memories, I just need a moment to try and get my feet back on the ground

Struggling with those choices you make when you're falling apart

Screaming at the mirror like it's going to change it

Dwelling on smiles and hands held tight

Time will pass them by but dreams have a way of shining their light

And you try to hate it

They always have a way of coming around

Sharing pictures you thought you’d finally forgot

Waking from a time that felt more real than where you are

And today I just can’t shake it
