Demise

Well, you were right about one thing,

That I don't know who you are.

You lost sight of yourself somewhere in between all our highs and lows.

The person I knew was stronger than what you show.

Now I'm left to weather the harshness of your soul

Stand back! Please don't get too close.

I'd hate for you to get a tear on that pretty nose.

I guess this is how it goes.

I stand, and I sit, and I scream, and I cry.

My God, I don't know why.

It's so hard to watch you write the story of your own demise.

You were heaven sent, and now you're hell-bound and bent on being right.

Isn't it amazing how the light can change the night?

As the story starts to get old and you're left out in the cold.

Just hear your words and know it was your claws that severed our souls.

Stand back! Please don't get too close.

I'd hate for you to get a tear on that pretty nose.

I guess this is how it goes.

I stand, and I sit, and I scream, and I cry.

My God, I don't know why.

It's so hard to watch you write the story of your own demise.

Well, I guess you were right about one thing

and only one thing.

Well, I guess you were right about one thing.

It had to be this one thing.

Stand back! Please don't get too close.

I'd hate for you to get a tear on that pretty nose.

I guess this is how it goes.

I stand, and I sit, and I scream, and I cry.

My God, I don't know why.

It's so hard to watch you write the story of your own demise.

A song I wrote about someone who decided what the world had to offer was more important than the life she was building. It's sad to watch someone you care or cared about, fall apart trying to find self-worth from anyone willing to give them attention, especially when they were already beautiful inside and out.
